Over the weekend of 20-21 July 2013 I participated in the second annual Hackagong. It has gone from strength to strength since last year’s event – and with it, the degree of competition in the annual technology and entrepreneurship competition.
My team of 3 built Peereo, a web app in the education technology space. It is a social network for primary and secondary teachers, with the functionality to upload videos of teaching content under the new national curriculum. Teachers mentor one another through feedback and share new innovations in teaching; students enjoy the highest-rated content as a by-product to enrich their studies. We believe that this will make for massive social benefits.
Amidst the highly impressive field at Demo Day, held as part of the wider Illawarra Digital 2013 Expo, I’m very proud to share that Peereo received the Major Prize. We received $16,000 in cash and other prizes for having the ‘Most Viable Business Potential.’ We’ve received some great press coverage as well as highly positive feedback from teachers and the public so far.
